My New Series!

Many of you have been writing to ask what's next. I've just posted information about my new HIGHLAND GUARD series on my website, so make sure to check it out. I'm going back a few hundred years to the time of Robert the Bruce, but you'll get a chance to see many of the familiar clans I've written about before, including the MacLeods, MacDonalds, Campbells, Lamonts, MacGregors, Gordons, and MacLeans.
I just turned in the first book today, and I am super excited about it. It's called "The Chief" and the hero is Tor MacLeod. I hope to be posting a blurb soon.
Happy 4th of July!

OMG! That sounds AMAZING! I got so excited I had to share it with my boyfriend. I can't wait to read them! AHH but I have to wait so long =(
Natalie,
Yeah! I'm so glad you are excited to read. I've wanted to do this series for about 8 years and I'm so excited that Ballantine was just as excited about it as I am. My hubby is actually going to start it tonight. :) I know it seems like a LONG time, but it will be here before you know it! Wait until you guys see the cover. They are still tweaking, but hope to be able to show it to you guys soon.
Ahh thats exciting! Has your hubby read all of your books? What about the other males in your family? What are their reactions to the more R rated scenes?
Since I've started writing that's been something on my mind. My boyfriend helps me out sometimes and has read little bits but he will wait to read the whole thing until I'm all done and have tweaked it some. But my Dad? I don't know about that one. He's a pretty easy going guy but something about his little girl writing detailed love scenes gets him all flustered. I'm not sure why... LOL
-sighs- I know it'll go by quickly, but something about seeing those 2010 dates makes me groan. But it does help that you post teasers for us- like the covers ;)
Monica,
Your new series sounds awesome! I can't wait to read them too. Your books are the best!
Thanks for the blurb on your website, and for writing as quickly as you do. As an aspiring author I'm amazed by how fast you write. How the heck do you do it? I'd appreciate any tips or just to hear about your typical writing schedule.
YAY! When I finished the last book, I was sad that there wouldn't be more. I can't wait for this next series to come out.
How exciting! I can. not. wait!
Hey Jen,
Thanks for the great comments about the books--glad you've enjoyed them. It takes me about 5-6 months to write a book, which feels quick to me, although my CPs are much faster than I am, LOL. I basically write full time when my kids are at school and try to handle any "extra" things like promo/email on the weekends. Because of my tight deadlines lately I've gotten very good at saying "no." :) It's hard, but necessary if I want to see my family at all. For a while I found myself really working a lot when my kids were around and I really didn't want to do that. It forced me to realize I can either spend time with my kids and say "no" or do XYZ (blogs, etc.). Good luck on your writing. Where are you in the process and what do you write?
Thanks, BE! I think you'll like this next series even more. :)
Hey PJ, It is very exciting. Seeing it up on my website makes it feel much more "real." I've been wanting to write this series for a LONG time (as my two CPs can attest).
Monica,
5-6 months seems very fast to me. :) I wish I had more time in the day to write. It's difficult to carve out the time when I work 9-10 hours days at my full time job. But I'm trying. :)
I'm hard at work on 2 Medievals. Both are half done, though I do need to rewrite several scenes. Last year I took several online writing courses, and they were a great help to me. I hope to sign up for another class soon. My goal is to write "the end" on both books next year.
I am really excited that you chose a different era! Will the Bruce be making an appearance? thanks for the blurb on your website...keeps us wanting more...
I'm so excited about the new series. Nothing is better than Special Ops in kilts.
Monica;
Your new series sounds absolutely wonderful. Like the rest of your readers, I can't wait until next year!!
Jen,
The fact that you are writing at all when you work full time is impressive. I love medievals! A good friend of mine Karin Tabke has a great series if you haven't check them out, I highly recommend. I'm amazed that you can write two at once--that's pretty impressive. I'll cross my fingers that you get the time to finish them both. Keep me posted.
Laurie,
The Bruce definitely makes an appearance--he leads off in the prologue!
Jane,
Glad you agree. :)
Kimberly,
We must have had our posts cross in cyberspace, LOL. Thanks for the kind words about the series. Hope all is well with you. :) Conference this year????
Unfortunately, no conference for me this year. Next year for sure!! I'm really bummed to miss your talk on Alpha heroes. Is there anything more wonderful than an alpha hero? Not in my book! (pun intended!! LOL) But to take away the sting of not being in DC, I have book 3 in this absolutely FABULOUS Highlander series to relish. Can't wait to read Duncan and Jeannie's story.
Shoot! I was hoping to catch up. You are so cute bout the books--hope you enjoy #3! I'll miss you at Rotrosen. :(
Oh, AWESOME! Thanks for the tidbit--definitely looking forward to hearing more! Hope you're having a great weekend :)
All I have to say is that I am so EXCITED!!! Can't wait until next year.. So Excited!!!
flchen,
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the little intro. :) So far a fantastic weekend. It's absolutely gorgeous here. Think we're going to try to take the kids golfing later this afternoon. They've finally gotten decent enough to make a fun family outing, LOL. Hope it's gorgeous where you are.
Thanks, Dragon Lady! I can't wait for next year, too. :) I swear these weeks have been going by so fast it will be here before I know it.
Yay!! So excited! The series sounds so fun, exciting, and different! It will be a long wait until Spring 2010 but I'm sure it will be well worth it! Congratulations on meeting your deadline.
You are really a gifted storyteller.... thank you for sharing your imagination with us.
Can't wait for some excerpts and the cover......
I feel like a little kid... 2010 is sooooo far away!!! :)
Thanks again.
Tara,
Thank you so much for your sweet comments. And 2010 will be here before we know it (scary!). I will be posting excerpts, blurbs, covers, etc. so it will hopefully make the wait a little easier. I'm really excited about the new series--it definitely is a little different with the special ops element and even more yummy Highlanders to go around, LOL.
BTW, Tara, I forgot to mention...
Since I know you are team Eric, I had to let you know that I just started book #4. Also, my hubby and I just finished watching Generation Kill on DVD--if you haven't seen it make sure to check it out. The guy who plays Eric is one of the main actors. He's just too hot. Sigh.
Hahahaha!!! :) I am so excited for you to meet "Mr.Happy".
I had seen Generation Kill before True Blood. He is just so yummy!!!
I forgot to mention to you... that from one of your earlier posts you mentioned, in the comments area, that you loved "The Bride". So I needed a new book and bought it. I did enjoy it. I bought a few others of hers too.
But I would have to say that my 2 favorites have not changed. The first would be "Outlander" by Gabaldon and my second is one of yours... "Highland Outlaw". I absolutely fell in love with Patrick and Lizzie. :)))
Tara,
You are so sweet--that is a HUGE compliment. I just re-read most of Julie's historicals and loved them as much the second and third time around. Thank you, thank you! I haven't re-read outlander, but it was my favorite book for YEARS. Jamie has got to be one of the best heroes ever.
I actually bought "Generation Kill" to read after I'm finished with Sookie. I'm half way through #5. When am I going to get back to Eric?????? Please don't tell me 7 or 8?
Your new series sounds great Monica. This should be fun to have "The Bruce" as a part of it.
Back to TB, yeah Eric is hot. In the books you have a ways to go if you want to see more Eric/Sookie action. Book 9 (the most recent one) will give all the Eric fans something to look forward to. But the story is "dark". Oh well, that's Sookie's world!
Doreen,
I am definitely team Eric. I wish I'd seen your post before I bought books 5-8, LOL. I kept WAITING for Eric and didn't get any "good stuff" until book 9. I hope she wraps up the guy decision in book 10. I'm getting impatient.
